In a nutshell: Cute Plush Toys and Kitsch Jewellery
Tell me a little about yourself ...
Hi! I'm Belle Perez and live in a city called Winnipeg in Canada. I would have to say that my personality is certainly reflected into my work. You can probaly get a sense of me by taking a look at all the cupcake monsters! More non-craft related, I'm afraid of heights, love to bellydance and collect 80s stuff.
What are your favourite materials?
It would still be felt and my needle.
What inspired you to do this?
I like doodling cute creatures and I wanted to try to make them come alive as a plush doll. I didn't know if people would even be drawn to them as I was but it has turned out to be quite the fun journey!

Do you remember the first thing you made? What was it?
Hmm...I think I was five and I remember making my first 'children's book'. I had illustrated it with little girls of big hair and big eyes and stapled everything together. I think I still have it somewhere.
What's new and exciting in your store?
For plush toys, there will be some new Cupcake characters coming in and there's new kitsch jewellery for the Summer already!

What is your favourite item? And why?
If it's a craft item, I would say its felt. It just reminds me of when I was little little and I would cut felt pieces that you can stick to a felt sheet. Now I've done so much more with it! It makes me giggle really.
Why should people buy handmade?
People should certainly buy handmade for with so many items being mass produced, I think it's original to buy something directly from the artist or crafter. Its important to support small businesses so that the Wal-marts of our world don't knock them off the block.
