In a nutshell: I create housewares and fine art from found and recycled objects.

Tell me a little about yourself ...
My name's Liz Grotyohann. I'm a graphic designer by day, and artist/crafter/all-around-crazyperson by night.
What are your favourite materials?
Anything old and worn out. I like things that look like they've come from another time, or had another life before I work with them. I'm also really interested in finding new ways to recycle common waste items like paper.
What inspired you to do this?
I'm a maker at heart. I've always got a project, or two, or ten, going. So the natural step was to start making beautiful objects to share with other people.
Why should people buy handmade?
Buying handmade means that you get a unique product that's not mass-produced, while also supporting an artisan directly. By buying directly from a craftsperson, you are able to be more aware of the life of the product you're buying, and the impact of its production, which is important in these days of mass consumption. Handmade objects are very often lower-impact environmentally than their mass-produced counterparts, and better for local economies because the income goes directly to the artist and is often spent locally, supporting his/her own community.
