Swarovski night fever!

I finally received the pictures of the only gift I received for my 30th birthday (my 30th was just barely celebrated... sniffles)

I have so much turmoil in my life right now that I long for simplicity...

I keep going back and forth between Silver and Copper...

But I do tend to always use the same colours with one and other... For example, pink and Silver always come to mind... or Amber and Copper... I will try to force myself to mix and match other colours in the future...

This ring is version 2.0 of rings I made for xmas gifts... It should be much sturdier!

This ring features a black coconut shell flat bead, a vintage trumpet flower shell bead, a vintage Swarovski crystal, a vintage Rhinestones incrusted button, a vintage glass faux pearl, and an explosion of gemstones: pink Quartz, vintage Mother of Pearl, a Freshwater pearl, a hot pink pearl shell drop...


The ring base is hand wrapped Silver filled wire, and is approximately size 6.

Trash Shag Dirty Girl Scarf from knittydirtygirl

It's Valentine's day, no? I think I just fell in love again!

Trash Shag Dirty Girl Scarf

Handspun, Handknitwool, plastic bag, lace, scrap fabric, silk scarf, scrap novelty yarn, plied with a grey thread for poof!

Trash was inserted between the thread and wool while plying for a "shag" effect.

This 36" scarf is all garter stitch and feels really nice next to skin. All of the "trash" lays on one side of the scarf.

Artist Rachel Marie has always been an inspiration for me, with her quirky and recycled yarns!

I have been playing with Silver lately, but I always seem to come back to my first love...

hand wrapped gemstones, Silver and vintage button sculpture ring

Last week, I received a brand new material for my jewelry making passion: Silver filled wire.

This "high quality wire from Germany is made specifically for the jewelry-making industry, and is considered by many to be second only to solid sterling silver". I learned a lot about wire before my purchase, thanks to the detailed item descriptions and patient replies to my numerous inquiries by cat dancing ranch.

Silver filled wire is made by "bonding sterling silver to a pure copper core". It will resists tarnish and wear and tear better than plated or coated wire - and is of a much higher quality - as it contains more Sterling.

Here is my first creation with this new material.

This ring features a vintage wood button, a vintage faux pearl, a vintage tiki bead, a Silver platted bead and an explosion of gemstones: Mookite, Mother of Pearl, Cornelian… The ring base is hand wrapped, and is approximately size 6.
