On the front page of Etsy!

Here we are in all our glory on the front page of Etsy !
The front page features gorgeous leather items, including our entry for the Upcycling Bazaar Bizarre contest on Etsy.
This set of earrings and necklace features gorgeous red vintage boiled leather and Garnet chips, on hand fashioned Copper findings.
Very light, the earrings dangle down 2 inches long. The Copper earring hooks are hand fashioned from repurposed copper hardware wire.
These earrings are very fragile! They are to be worn with your hair up!
The matching necklace is 16 inches long, with a 2 inch extender chain, and the pendant is 1 inch by 2 inches long. The claps and jump rings are hand fashioned from repurposed copper hardware wire.
The gorgeous vintage boiled leather is salvaged from a thrifted wallet; it was like brand new, still in its original packaging, but obviously from the early to mid 70's.
Boiled leather does not age well: the wallet tore down in my hands as soon as I inserted my first card in it. It was repurposed to be used in a series of recycled jewelry. The other items made with this leather can be seen here or here.
Thank you Nea for the lovely list!

the best gift ever!

yay! my boyfriend is the best ever! i got TOOLS for xmas :)

i almost fell off my chair when i opened the gift! lo and behold, the best gift ever:

its from fiskars http://www.fiskarscrafts.com/tools/

its called a wire jig, and it comes with the above plyers and wire mandrel... i made many many many things like these since i got those two tools:

it comes with a jig like this
the said jig has 6 different plates, with several idea sheets each, that can be used to bend the wire in all sorts of forms
i used it last night to try and make my own earring wires and bracelet/necklace clasps... what fun!
i made them all out of copper, to practice, but i'll buy, in the VERY near future, sterling silver wire as well, and will be eventually using only my handmade findings for my jewelry
they werent cute enough to take pictures, but i'll post some soon :)

he also got me super cool arts and crafts tools, like wood cutting gouges and such... i havent started playing with those yet... more pics to come!
