Interview - Janick Gravel form Nea Jewelry
Tell me a little about yourself...
My name is Janick. I am 25 years old and I live in Montreal. I am a graphic designer for my own company named Fonetik, and an amateur writer for my creative finds blog written in French named Blogue Fonetik. Since august 2006, I am also jewelry designer with Nea Jewelry, which also has its blog !
Tell me about Nea Jewelry
Nea is all about enhancing women's already gorgeous style! I create jewelry and accessories that will add a little edge to your outfits! Nea is creative, modern and sometimes a lot bold! My goal to help women feel great about themselves!
What's new and exciting in your store?
Since it hasn't even been 6 months since the beginning of Nea, every item is kind of new! We have collections that range from classy looks to some more bold and attention-grabbing items. One particular collection I am very excited about is Tullia. The core material used in this collection is tulle, which is a lot referred to the 80's, but I try bringing it back to our era with a modern flair!
Where do you find your inspiration?
Usually, my inspiration comes from the materials themselves like ribbon, tulle, feathers, etc. I love to search for materials that are unusual for jewelry, and supplies that I can use in a different way than what we normally see! Other inspirations come from all sorts of design and art and music.
What is your favourite item? And why?
I change my mind on this question all the time! Each new model is my new favourite! But I think my all time favourite would be the Brelok Collection, earrings and necklace. I really feel they can be worn for special events as much as in everyday life!
What are your favourite materials?
My favourite is chain, simply because it's the supporting material of almost all my jewelry! I think of chain as an emotional material. Depending on the color and how it's used, it can go from being classy and stylish to being edgy and carefree!
Can you give us a sneak peek of what's to come?
More and more items are to come very soon! I have my supplies box filled with amazing materials waiting to be transformed into jewelry, and a lot from that box is for the Recycloratti Collection. I want to add more in this collection because I think it is very important to do what we can to help the earth live stronger. This collection is all about used materials being transformed in a new life!
